August 11, 2025 · Jonathan managed Brian directly

I had the privilege of working with Brian Harward for four years at Ethical Systems, where he handled an extraordinary range of research initiatives with depth, independence, and intellectual rigor. As our sole research staff member, he tackled any and all projects from beginning to end (design, methods, analysis, presentation), always producing work of the highest quality. He also contributed thought leadership through consulting engagements, blogs, and research pages that advanced innovative ideas in business ethics and organizational culture. Brian's ability to think strategically, synthesize complex concepts, and communicate them with clarity made him invaluable to our mission. I recommend him for any role requiring critical thinking and a commitment to meaningful impact.

Brian Harward is a brilliant researcher, analyst, writer, and colleague. We have worked closely together for four years, and I could not recommend his thoughtful approach and sharp analysis more highly.

Lisa Bulgatz, PhD

Former Director of Student Services, San Diego University for Integrative Studies

April 18, 2024 · Lisa managed Brian directly

I worked with Brian Harward, Ph.D. when he was a member of the adjunct faculty at the San Diego University for Integrative Studies (SDUIS), where he started in August 2010. As the Director of Student Services I was responsible to coordinate his quarterly teaching schedule.

Over the course of his six years with the University, Dr. Harward distinguished himself as a dedicated professional, teaching several courses in both Business and Counseling/Psychology programs, on such topics as Consumer Motivation and Behavior, Behavioral Statistics (Introductory & Advanced), and Research Methods for the Behavioral Sciences (Introductory & Advanced). He is extremely knowledgeable, highly competent, responsible, and detail oriented.

In addition to his teaching for SDUIS, Dr. Harward consulted with graduate students in the thesis and dissertation process, aiding in selection of the appropriate statistical analyses to conduct, as well as interpretation of the results. This experience laid the foundation for Dr. Harward to be appointed as the University's Director of Research, a role he served for two years.

In this role, Dr. Harward was responsible to provide supervision to doctoral candidates and their research projects, including in the design of research protocols; to explain the applicable federal and state regulations, and institutional policies for conducting studies with human participants; facilitate the process to obtain approval of committee members; advise on the appropriate methods for data gathering and recording, statistical analysis and interpretation of results; coordinate the defense schedule and completion of appropriate documentation for the University; and describe the preparation of manuscripts, including making necessary revisions and submission of the final document.

Dr. Harward has an innate ability to connect with students, and consistently received positive student evaluations. He has excellent written and verbal communication skills, is well organized and reliable. Dr. Harward has shown that he can work independently, as well as develop effective and challenging new course curricula.

It is with great respect that I provide this recommendation for Dr. Brian Harward. I am confident that he will be an asset to any organization, and will provide a high level of dedication and commitment.

Brian is a great resource for remote teams because he maintains a high degree of contact, customer-need orientation, and consistently meets deadlines. Brian manages his schedule flexibly to pick up the workflow whenever it's needed. For example, Brian worked opposite shifts from me so we could maintain steady progress towards our goal. By doing so, we managed to complete a project in less than half the time expected. Brian also probes to understand precisely what's needed and why in order to deliver the best work in an an extremely timely manner. Brian is highly professional, highly skilled, and always eager to learn more to meet the needs of the team. I recommend working with Brian if you need a remote teammate you can count on.

I highly recommend Brian for any business or research statistical work for two simple reasons: expertise and ease. I have used Brian on multiple occasions for statistical work and business analysis, and he always delivers on time, on budget, and he develops a precision product. I don't know of any other statisticians that have his level of expertise in the subject or are easier to work with. If you have any business or research statistical consulting needs, Brian is your guy.
